We ask all our clients to complete a form and have it stamped by their vet so that we are sure that hydrotherapy is suitable for your dog. This is particularly important with regard to injuries.

Facilities

The Pool

The Pool at Four Paws Aqua is 3 ½ meters long, 3 meters wide and 1 meter deep. There is a non-slip ramp into and out of the pool. The pool is heated to 30 degrees and we use Bromine rather than chlorine.

Hygiene and safety are of upmost importance to us therefore the pool is deep-cleaned every morning and evening, with a light clean between each session and the Bromine levels are tested and recorded twice a day.  All dogs receive a pre swim shower to help ensure that any debris are not brought into the Pool. After their swim every dog has a shampoo/shower and thoroughly dried off.

The Hoist

For dogs with impaired mobility we have a hoist to help them in and out of the pool. All staff are fully trained in using the hoist and owners are able to fully supervise the lifting of their pet to ensure their dog remains relaxed.

The hoist is capable of lifting 30stones - so even the biggest dogs can be easily accommodated.

Digital Scales & Ideal Weight Chart

Your dog’s weight is very important to their longevity and health. Overweight and obese dogs are much more likely to develop diabetes, heart and respiratory conditions, arthritis, even behavioral problems. So it's easy to see why monitoring your dog's weight carefully is important. Swimming provides an excellent cardiovascular workout and together with a calorie-controlled diet will help your dog lose weight and increase their fitness and muscle tone.

To help you manage their weight and keep track of your dog’s progress we have a set of digital animal scales and an ideal weight chart. We always communicate with your dog’s veterinary surgeon to ensure your dog’s suitability before they enter the pool.
